Design

Development of preliminary, construction and validation grade definition documents, including drawings, specifications and a variety of technology documents and models. IDC's facility design services include:

Preliminary Design - Development of process flow diagrams (PFDs), material and energy balances, process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), material flow analysis, preliminary layouts, preliminary site development plans, equipment lists, utility loads, and electrical single line diagrams. These are typically performed in conjunction with a construction cost estimate that is used for capital appropriation. The construction cost estimate is then used for cost control and change management through detailed engineering and construction. The preliminary design documents serve as the basis for detailed engineering. Permitting plans and project execution schedules are also started during this phase.

Architectural and Interior Design - Code reviews and analysis, renderings, exterior and interior plans and elevations, construction details, materials and finishes to meet the intended use of each space. Specialists in washdown areas, GMP compliance, USDA and FDA regulations, space utilization and adjacencies, sanitary design features.

Detailed Engineering - Complete services for architectural, civil, structural, HVAC, plumbing, utilities, process, piping, instrumentation, automation, mechanical and electrical engineering. Construction drawings and specifications. Controls programming.

Equipment Selection and Pricing - Partial or complete management of a professional procurement process. This can include prequalification of vendors; development of procurement specifications; preparation, distribution and technical/commercial review of bid submittals; recommendation for award; and subsequent procurement related activities.

3D Visualization - Creation of a realistic experience of a future project-from layout to lighting-through renderings, virtual models, computer-animated tours, "fly-throughs", and multimedia shows.

Environmental Engineering - Complete environmental services including discharge permitting, air emissions controls, wastewater treatment systems (design, construct, own, operate), solid waste management, biogas systems, and odor management.

Computer Simulation and Modeling - Analysis of manufacturing systems and shared resources for processes and utilities. Air flow modeling for internal spaces or external discharges. Plant optimization.

Food Process and Packaging Engineering - Design of facilities, process, and packaging systems that are cost-effective, while optimized for ease and flexibility of manufacturing and maintenance.

Process Control and Systems Integration - Programming of production floor control and factory automation systems including PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems. Intellution and Wonderware programming, as well as many other current platforms.

Construction Planning and Constructibility Reviews - Review of designs for constructibility throughout the design process. Optimization of designs for cost-effective construction methods and materials.

Validation - Complete validation services from design concepts and validation master planning through startup. Development of SOPs, IQ, OQ and PQ documentation and protocols.
