International Design/build Firm Offers New High-Tech Strategies
to Dramatically Reduce Food Processor Costs, Environmental Impact
OF INTEREST TO THESE INDUSTRIES: All food and beverage processors
in North America and worldwide; also, nutraceutical and biotechnology
companies.
November 3-6, 2002 - McCormick Place, Chicago USA
Booth 7425 - International Exposition for Food Processors
Industrial Design & Construction (IDC) will display a range
of its high-tech food processing optimization technologies at the
International Exposition for Food Processors (IEFP) in Chicago.
Increasingly stringent environmental requirements are a growing
concern to food processors wishing to expand their operations. IDC
consultants at IEFP will discuss advanced wastewater minimization
strategies that can allow manufacturers to expand operations while
lowering their operating costs.
IDC has recently applied its leading-edge technologies to achieve
dramatic improvements in the performance of food processing facilities,
including reductions in wastewater output and annual operating costs
for major food processing facilities in the U.S. and Middle East.
IDC consultants begin with inexpensive waste minimization studies
that identify opportunities to reduce wastewater flows by tens of
thousands of gallons per day, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars
a year.
At IEFP, IDC will also demonstrate its tools for enhanced food
plant
security and anti-terrorism protection, including high-tech approaches
to manufacturing facility risk assessment and security strategies.
IDC is also a leader in the use of high-tech "cost of ownership"
and energy reduction tools to reduce operations costs facility-wide.
To assist food processors in keeping ahead of trends in the food
processing industry, IDC has been coupling the capabilities of its
food and pharmaceutical divisions in order to serve the growing
number of "hybrid" companies that straddle both areas
of technology, such as the nutraceuticals and biotechnology markets.
IDC also sees single-source design/build delivery of manufacturing
facilities as another trend manifesting itself in a number of new
projects being launched in Asia and Europe by U.S.-based clients.
In recent months IDC has assisted a major U.S. food processor transplant
its operations model to a new European location. Conversely, the
single-source approach is encouraging the flow of new investments
in U.S. locations by non-U.S. companies.
IDC is a member of the CH2M HILL family of companies, a leading
global provider of design/build services to manufacturers. Engineering
News Record (ENR) ranks the company among the top ten firms serving
the food industry. In June 2002, the book "Dancing With the
Tiger" named the company, along with Nike and Starbucks, as
a leader in the growing movement toward environmentally responsible
"sustainable development" practices.
